Montenegro to privatise Port of Bar
16.03.2009
Today, Montenegro's Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications Andrija Lompar said that the degree of interest of foreign strategic partners in the Port of Bar is great and he does not doubt its future.
He announced the invitation of the privatisation tender in three months. Lompar added that interest in the Port has been present for a long time, but they were looking for a solution that would satisfy the state, municipality and workers.
The privatisation will be based on a Landlord Port model which is applied in most European ports. The port authority retains the port infrastructure and regulatory functions, whereas the port services are provided by private operators.
Port Evolution Management (Port Evo), a British company specialised in port management and advisory services for port operators, recently expressed interest in the privatisation of the Port of Bar.
