Two Montenegrin stock exchanges to merge at beginning of 2010

01.12.2009

Two Montenegrin stock exchanges Montenegroberza and NEX Montenegro are to merge in the first quarter of 2010, Montenegrin daily Pobjeda reports.

Up to now there have been several attempts to merge the two stock exchanges, which proved unsuccessful. However, Atlas Group has recently increased its share in Montenegroberza to 48% and in NEX Montenegro to 39%. Atlas Group President Dusko Knezevic says the merger of the two stock exchanges is in mutual interest, bearing in mind the growing number of attempts for a regional merger of the stock exchanges.

Asked what the future plans of Atlas Group are as far as the two stock exchanges are concerned, Knezevic said the ultimate goal was to attract a well-known strategic partner with experience and traditions in the business.
