.ME domains popping up all over the world

.ME domain, the country-code top level domain (ccTLD) of Montenegro, has exploded in popularity on the internet over the last year. Whether it's an online business card, personal or corporate blog, or a college search site, people worldwide are finding truly unique and useful ways to incorporate .ME domains into their online marketing messages. More than 223,000 .ME domains have been registered since April 2008 with a wide variety of personal and professional uses. But, all of them have one thing in common – they definitely stand out from the crowd.

"Dot-ME is the fastest-growing ccTLD on the Web," stated Predrag Lesic, the executive director of the .ME Registry. "Practically every day I find another fascinating Web site using our domain extension in an impressive way. People and companies worldwide are making dot-ME -- all about them!"

Lesic enlists just a few clever examples:

www.MyEducation.ME – a website dedicated to helping young people in Ontario, Canada search for the best college to meet their educational needs. The site's slogan is It's all about M.E. (My Education).

GoDaddy.com CEO and Founder Bob Parsons hosts his video blog on a .ME site called www.BobParsons.ME. According to Alexa rankings, it is one of the most popular CEO blogs online!

www.YouAnd.ME is a free online dating site. It went live on Valentine's Day and already has close to 20,000 members and receives more than 60,000 page views a day, according to Reriani.com.

www.uTag.ME is a social bookmarking and tagging site powered by U.

There's also www.LasVegas.ME – a website for those looking for information about hotels, entertainment, tickets and all things Vegas!

"There is no doubt dot-ME makes a statement and Web users are leveraging it very well," adds Lesic. "Since our launch just one year ago, more than 440 dot-ME sites have become part of the Web's top one million -- other newly-launched TLDs have not seen this sort of explosion in popularity."

The .ME Registry announces two auctions - one this month and one next month - for domains not originally allocated in the Sunrise and Landrush auctions last spring. These two online auctions are scheduled to begin April 23 and again May 14. Each auction lasts 7 days.
