Bar-Boljare highway part of trans-European Network

Bar-Boljare highway will become a part of trans-European network which will serve as strong basis for the future financing, stated representatives from the European Commission (EC) during their visit to Montenegro.
The highway is of crucial importance for the development of Montenegro and transport system in the entire region. The EC delegation will have meetings and consultations with the representatives of national authorities in order to obtain information and comments on the first Draft Agreement on Transport Community.
“There are no major issues for Montenegro to take over the obligations defined by Transport Community Agreement”, concluded the EC.
The Croatian consortium made up of three construction companies (Konstruktor, Tehnika and IGH) has recently won a tender for the construction of a EUR 2.94 billion highway between Bar and Boljare cities.
Construction works are expected to begin within the next six months and finish in 2019.
