Montenegrin Merlot at Waitrose
08.04.2009
Waitrose will be showcasing some of the best wines from Italy, Spain and southern France as well as more unusual countries such as Lebanon, Kosovo and Montenegro in the Waitrose Mediterranean Wine Showcase 2009.
The showcase will run from 15 April to 17 May with some great savings on selected wines, including new lines and special parcels. There is a particular focus on food and wine matching and the wines will be split into categories: appetisers, fish, meat or tomato based dishes.
Plantaze Merlot 2006 is the wine featured from Montenegro in this showcase, described by Waitrose as:
A soft-textured, ripe blend of 85% Merlot and 15% of the indigenous Vranac variety from Plantaze estate’s vineyards, which lie along the shores of Lake Skadar in Montenegro. This wine has been made in a soft, elegant Old World style, and is designed to be enjoyed relatively young (£7.49 Waitrose, special price £4.99 15 April – 17 May).
