Montenegro targets 50,000 broadband connections in 2009

Montenegro targets over 50,000 broadband internet connections by the end of this year, according to the deputy prime minister Vujica Lazovic. Lazovic said that broadband penetration increased to 6.1 per cent in 2008, from 2.6 per cent a year earlier. The country finished last year with 31,000 ADSL users and 7,000 Wimax connections.
M:tel, the country's WiMax provider, announced that it will be doubling internet access speeds from 1 May. M:tel hopes to double its subscriber figures by the end of 2009.
